Anyone having Cisco 3845 or Cisco AS 5400 XM?

0
0

Hi everybody,

we have noticed an issue in PRI polling with our latest VNQM beta. Devices that are causing the problem were identified as:

Cisco 3845

SysDescription: Cisco IOS Software, 3800 (C3845-ADVIPSERVICES K9-M), Version 12.4(9)T1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

SysObjectID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.544

Cisco AS 5400XM

SysDescription: Cisco IOS Software, 5400 Software (C5400-JK9SU2_IVS-M), Version 15.0(1)M7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

SysObjectID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.668

is there someone who has this devices and using them for PRI? We would like to quickly validate if this is common problem.

thanks,

Michal

Volume delta over time alert

0
0

Hi,

I am wondering if it was possible to create an alert that will trigger if the volume (hard disk) utilisation increases by X percent over Y time? E.g. 20% over 2 hours.

I have created the following custom alert in the advanced alert manager. It should trigger when the utilisation changes by 5% in less than a 2 hour window but it does not. I tested this by monitoring a local volume, then copying files on the disk to increase the utilisation percentage (43% to 60%).  Running the query against the database returns the volume that I am testing against but still no alert (action is to send an npm event and write to a local log file).

(I also believe the alert will trigger if the utilisation DROPS over time as well but that's something to sort out if I can get this step working...)

Does anyone have any experience with a volume delta alert or can see where my SQL alert is incorrect?

(Alert is enabled, set to check every 1 minute, reset when no longer true, trigger all times of day)

Thanks

Date that a node/interface was entered into monitoring?

0
0

Is there a simple way to determine the date a node or interface was entered into monitoring? If there is not a simple way, is there any way to determine? I am trying to run a report of our customer growth over time and I need to know during what month each node/interface was entered into monitoring.

Thank you.

How to Integrate other vendor's CPU polling with Top 10 average CPU Load

0

Hi,

I have to monitoring of CPU Utilization and Memory Used of variety of vendor: HP, 3COM, Check Point, Blue Coat, Cisco, Alcatel, Fortigate. I was successful to polling them out of my Orion Web Console. But how to put them together in Top xx Node average CPU load, % Memory Used v...v.. Now only Cisco device in that Top xx resouce

And the second question is Do the UnDPs create some custom variable to those polling vendor like ${CpuLoad} and ${MemoryUsed}?

I really need an answer for this.

Please guide me if anyone has solutions.

now i am trying to learn about solarwinds, i got one small task.

all nodes are in different groups, that groups are defined as "group by comments"   now i want to move one node to another group,  see the below image in unknown[1], the node i want to move in Branches[37] group.

We processing all the feedback you guys provided us and our engineering teams are already working on couple of improvements:

  • PRI trunk utilization - be able to see gateway and per trunk utilization for your SIP and H.323 protocols
  • Our team is also working on Avaya call managers & CDR support investigation. I would like to say big thanks to all who has helped us with this. It's important for you and we are listening, stay tuned for more.
  • Support for phone details polling - see all details of your hardware or software IP phone

We are also investigating Video IP SLA operation support - check your network quality readiness for video services.

thanks,

Michal

Is there an overview of the exposed tables where I can see how the entities in each table relate to each other?

It some times take a bit of guess work to figure out that for instance Orion.Nodes.NodeID and Orion.Events.NetObjectID relate to each other. And if Cirrus.Nodes.NodeID of type System.Guid match up with Orion.Nodes.NodeID of type System.Int32

The Schemas that are installed together with the SDK does not specify relationships.

Adding node to a container (group) with Perl?

I'm attempting to add a specific nodeID to a container using the Perl SDK.

None of the following seem to be working... I must be missing something obvious!

my %UPDATEGROUP = (

   'ContainerID' => $_[1],

  'MemberPrimaryID' => $_[2]

  );

my $swis = SW::InformationService->new();

$swis->outputxml("true");

$swis->proxy("https://".$hostname.$endpoint);

$swis->proxy->http_request->authorization_basic($username, $password);

return $swis->Create('Orion.Container', \%UPDATEGROUP);

..or

return $swis->Create('Orion.ContainerMembers', \%UPDATEGROUP)

Any help / guidance woudl be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Graeme

SSH from an Orion NPM 10.4.2 web page link

0
0

I have read about 20 old posts about various ways to kludge the Orion web page/browser/registry/whatever to allow a working SSH link.  I am wondering if someone has more recent concise instructions for making this happen.  We do not have the Orion toolset/integration.

The lack of this particular functionality has become, for us, one of the most frustrating things about Orion.

Currently when I click on the "Telnet" link on the node details page in the Advanced Node Details box, my PC launches a Putty telnet window to a node.

Most of us have moved on to allow only SSH for cli access to our Cisco and other nodes, so it is time to make a change.

I am looking for the easiest way to make this happen, even if I need to use a different ssh client.  We use Chrome, but are also willing to change browsers if that makes this easier.  We run Windows 7.

I can launch putty/ssh from a command line on my PC using c:\putty -ssh <ip address>.  I have not been able to get this working as a custom link on a view.

If you respond referring me to one of the old posts I mentioned reading, please do not do so unless you know if works both as written and currently.

Thanks!

hi guys

i'm experiencing an issue that happens every 3 weeks for the last year, the users internet connection goes down until you reboot the core switch then it is ok for the next 3 weeks until it happens again, I have noticed that the uplink interface from the lan to the router receives lots of errors and discards that keep increasing daily could this be related, if so what could they be?

thanks in advanced

Custom Columns in NPM Manage Nodes

0
0

I am curious if the ability is there to save the layout on the Manage Nodes screen in NPM.  We like to use the "Location"  field to tell us where the piece of equipment is physically located and I know we can click "choose columns" to add that to the view but it would be very nice if we could set or save that customization so that the next time we go into manage views, it will still show the "Location"  field.

Is that possible?  Couldnt find anything about that in the product documentation or here on Thwack.

Adding Few more explanation here for Cisco Call Manager Showing 99% Memory Utilization in Orion .( just in case someone having this issue )

CallManager.png

The reason you are seeing 99% is due to the Cisco MCS returning back those values.

Why its doing this, you have to Open Cisco TAC.

NPM is returning back the values its being supplied with, in this case showing 99%.

Poller type: Used .

  1. N.Memory.SNMP.CpqHostPhysicalMemory =

Memory poller for OpenVMS systems which support proprietary CPQ-Host MIB

Poller utilizes GetSubtree request with two OIDs to gather total and used memory:

            cpqHoPhysicalMemorySize = 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.13.1.

            cpqHoPhysicalMemoryFree = 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.13.2.

Total memory is computed using this formula:

            memoryTotal = cpqHoPhysicalMemorySize * 1024

Used memory is computed using this formula:

            memoryUsed = memoryTotal - (cpqHoPhysicalMemoryFree * 1024)

MIB Walk shows:

            .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.13.1.0 = INTEGER: 3990 = cpqHoPhysicalMemorySize

            .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.13.2.0 = INTEGER: 60 = cpqHoPhysicalMemoryFree

memoryTotal = 3990 * 1024 = 4085760

memoryUsed = 4085760 - (60 * 1024) = 4085760 – 61440 = 4024320

PercentUsed = 4024320/4085760 = 98.496% = 99%
